Belleville police have released a photograph of a missing man’s recovered vehicle and are asking anyone who may have seen the car within the last two weeks to call investigators.
This is a very distinctive car and we’re hoping that it will generate a lot of leads for us, said Det. Peter Goulah, who is leading the investigation into the disappearance of Calvin Vanness who vanished last month.
We are considering his disappearance highly suspicious at this time, added Goulah. This is very unusual for him to be out of touch with his friends and family for this amount of time … he was one to call family members on a daily basis.
On March 26, Vanness, 65, spoke to his brother, who lives in Arden to say he was on his way for a visit.
He said he would be there around 6 p.m., but never showed. That was the last time anyone spoke with him.
Last Tuesday, Vanness’ 2004 four-door grey Pontiac Grand Prix was located at the Highway 38 car pool off Highway 401 by Kingston police. The car is unique: it has black and red flame decals on sides and front.
The discovery, noted Goulah, escalated the investigation profile and led officers to search on Highway 38.
Vanness is five-foot eight, 180 pounds, wears glasses and is balding. He has a tattoo of an eagle on his left forearm and the names Cheryl , Yvonne and Dianne on his upper left arm.
Anyone who may have spotted Vanness’ vehicle or know of his whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Goulah at 613-966-0882, ext. 2322 or Crime Stoppers at 613-969-8477.
